steve george
Hi all

Does anyone have any recommendations for booking management software? Or do you just use Excel?

What I'd like is a calendar / database system that will automatically put in critical dates (e.g. 4 weeks before a wedding to send out an invoice for final balance) and that also has the capacity to enter details like mileage per job, print costs, orders etc so all info for costs and profit for each job is held on a job specific record.

Any tips gratefully received.

Steve

maximphotostudio
I am a big fan of Millers Lab Bookmonline.com it is free and I was able to integrate it with my web and weblog.
I've also heard about Venture Datasafe http://www.venturedatasafe.com/ It is based on File Maker Pro 10, so I am also looking into developing my own DB schema and frontend to suit my needs, but the 3.0 version looks robust, but a little awkward. If you are a DWF member, there is a good discount for Datasafe.
With Datasafe, you pay money upfront vs. $30/month & $40/month with Tave and Shootq, respectively.

maximphotostudio
BC Photo, sounds great. Can you give examples of how. If I am compelled, I may give ShootQ a 30 day spin.
hooman_b
This is a video from a videographer I have worked with - they swear by ShootQ - I've really liked what I've used of it so far too. And I just spent about 45 minutes with Shoot Q on the phone (no charge) as they helped guide me through the process of using the software. It is really nice, and I can definitely see it being worth the monthly charge... http://www.infocusvideoevent.com/blog/2009/05/how-using-shootq-can-improve-your-business.html

will_tseng1
Try Checkfront at checkfront.com - you'll need the hourly addon though.
dan_mcclure
I used to use shootq, then i realized that i couldnt use it everywhere. Always needed an internet connection, but there were plenty of times I could've double booked because they don't allow any sort of real export of the data. Now they're trying to jack me with a 40$ iphone app. I ditched them and now am extremely happy with a desktop / online program called studiolead (studiolead.com). I couldn't be happier. cheap online option too that does many of the same functions as shootq and then some.
