580 exii as a hairlight

<p>Is it possible to use a 580 exii as a hairlight? I currently have 2 photogenic pl2500 (1000w/s each) that I trigger with a quantum radio slave. I know the canon does not play well as a slave but is it safe to buy a pc cord splitter and attach it to the quantum? The cord would come out of the quantum radio slave to a splitter one wire would go to the monolight the other to the canon 580. I just dont want to blow up my speedlite. Any info on how I can set this up (short of buying a 3rd light) would be greatly appreciated.</p>

<p>I don't see why not, as long as the quantam slave can safely trigger a speedlite. I use speedlites in conjunction with monolights all the time, but I trigger them with PWs or optically.</p>

<p>I sometimes use a Metz CT-4 as a hairlight when I'm on location so I don't see any problems. However, when it comes to hairlights, it's very hard to get the right angle unless you have a modeling light. </p>

<p>You can trigger the Canon 580EX-II Speedlight using the Radio Slaves. All you need would be a male PC to male PC cord to connect the teo together. Quantum does not make that cord, but most camera stores should have one. I believe that the cords are made by Paramount</p>
