Someone suggested I acquire a Zone VI Field Guide to rcord exposure information and so on for all the shots I take with my 4x5. This Filed guide is no longer made and thus not available. Does anyone have a guide with a blank page that they can scan and pass along so I can see what it looks like??
Would grately aprreciate it.

Thanks. Francois

The Zone VI form was a variation on the record form that is found in Adams "The Negative". The concept is great, but there is a price to be paid to have someone print the form.
I just schlep along a small notebook for making pertinent notations. I usually record the film holder number, lens exposure, filter (if any), and expected development compensations (N-1, etc). I may also note the subject if that is iimportant - but usually I can figure out just by looking at the negative what the subject was.
I chose a 'perfect bound' notebook rather than a spiral-bound notebook - it takes up less space in the backpack, and those spirals eventually get crushed and less-flexible over time.

The form found in the appendix of "The Negative" could be recreated in MS Word in about 5 minutes flat and then printed A5 size two-up on A4 paper. No probs! However the whole thing looks a bit anal and overdetailed to me. For example: why not just write the zones down, rather than tick off cells in a table? And do you really need to be constantly reminded that exposure doubles or halves with every zone? It would also be more correct and less outdated to rate the film speed in EI rather than ASA.

OTOH, there's nowhere to record the batch number of the film - surely more important than knowing when the darkslide was loaded? And do you really need to note the size of the film, or the photographer's name on every sheet? I think not.

I was about to scan and post a page from the Ansel Adams Exposure Record, Pocket Edition (Morgan & Morgan, Inc., publisher), but decided that might violate copyright laws. Then found this link to a form that actually looks more useful in some ways: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Exposure_Record_Form_pub.pdf
