saad_m
Hi there
I will be shooting some headshots for some actors soon. I want to make them interesting but still follow conventions and serve their purpose.
I have two flashed and some shoot thru and reflective umbrellas. Any suggestion as to the lighting and so forth? Perhaps standard headshot lighting, and then I can try and get creative from there.

Cheers
Saad
brucecahn
One very large umbrella reflector over the camera and touching it with a reflector underneath. Hair and background lights are optional.
saad_m
Whats an umbrella reflector? So an umbrella on top, and just a white reflector underneath?

Saad
brucecahn
An umbrella reflector is an umbrella off which you bounce the light, as opposed to a shoot through umbrella. Put it on a boom over the camera. You can use a white or silver reflector underneath. Just put it on a table at which you seat the subject. The umbrella must be 48" or bigger. That is all you really need.
saad_m
Thanks a lot. Is there a reason Why I couldnt use a shoot thru for softer light by getting it closer?
