Farkle-Mpls
Hi all,

I've been scouring eBay and Googling but I cannot find a source for lens hoods for some of my older Canon LTM lenses, specifically:

34mm hood for 35/F2.8
48mm hood for 85/F2.0 and 135/F3.5

Does anyone have sources for hoods. I'd love to get original Canon hoods (were they made?) but will settle for something else non-original, if it's effective.

Many thanks for your help!

dave_s
The Canon originals do show up from time to time on the hated auction site, but you might have to be patient. Another solution would be to look for Series VI (35/2.8) or Series VII (teles) slip-on adapters in your lens sizes, and use the corresponding Series VI or VII hoods.
john_shriver
Remember that the hood and adapter ring were separate parts. The hood is either Series VI size (35/2.8) or Series VII size (85/2.0 and 135/3.5). Then there are separate adpaters to the lens threads, which can also hold a Series filter of the related size.
There are two correct hoods for the 35/2.8, both are marked as being for the 35/2.8 and 50/1.8. One is round, one is rectangular, with a "vent" for viewing through. The former is more common, the latter is more effective. The former may be used with threaded, slip-on, or clamp-on adapters, the later must use a slip-on or clamp-on adapter.
The hoods for the 85/2.0 and 135/3.5 reverse over the lens for storage, there's a reverse 48mm cap that can thread onto the adapter. There's also a reverse 52mm slip-on cap to go over the slip-on adapater.
Some are for sale at www.kevincameras.com, but those are "top of the market" prices.
