In medium format, is there a Zeiss "look"?
I believe there is, and that takes care of the subjective impression part of this post, but...
Does the extra 23% enlargement needed, compared to 6x7, squash it when making 20" plus prints?
I ask because I am yet undecided which system to keep, having both Hassy with Zeiss cfi 50, 60, 100 and 180 lenses and Mamiya RZ with latest 50, 65, 110 and 250apo. I like both, and weight is not a concern, as I don't carry my gear far. have a slight preference for the square but also like the classic elegance of the almost-square 67. Even playing with both has not helped me form a definite preference, yet one will have to go.
I am still just collecting transparency images, not having the time or facilities to transform them into prints yet, so I am not in a position to compare final results of how the technical advantage of larger negative (I mean positive) plays off against subjective impressions of the slightly smaller 6x6 with "the look".
I could aim at limiting print size so that technical differences are inconsequential, just like limiting 35mm to 8x10 prints, but I don't think that will ultimately be very satisfying.
I've been researching photonet for months in my spare time to see if there is a consensus of opinion on this, and have yet to find one, and maybe there isn't one. All I could say is that the 'blad system will give me more money if I sold it, but right now I would wonder what would I be missing? Any views (pardon the pun) from experienced makers of fine landscape/natural-scene prints would be very welcome, thank you.

What scanner do you use? the RZ system is unbeatable in functionality and optical quality. If you don't care about the weight , and have a scanner to take advantage of it, it is really a no brainer.

Take the same picture at f11 with both and make a print 24x30 (or equvalent crop from the center of the film). Look at them side by side.

RZ.
