smarksphotography
Hi,

I was wondering if this lens was worth trying to sell? I currently have it with my F1 body along with a my 50 f1.8. I don't think I used any of this gear for close to ten years. Maybe longer. I figure I'll have onto the body and the 50 mm but could part with the zoom lens if it was worth the trouble. (I can't find any for sale so I no point of reference.
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/AFNikkor/AF35135mm/index1.htm
Thanks in advance for any advise.

Spencer
trevor_newman1
It's not a particularly remarkable lens, however, if the glass is clean I will take it off your hands for the cost of shipping

randy_tate
Like Mark is saying, eBay is the best way to figure out value. Their search tool allows you to select lens specifications including brand, camera fit, lens type (Zoom, prime, wide angle etc.), and even maximum aperture. This will produce a list of lenses for sale just like yours. If you have an account with eBay you can even select "Completed Listings" and it shows you what lenses like yours are selling for. You typically see some that didn't sell because they were priced too high and a collection of others that sold for varying amount (expect the price to vary due to lens condition and of course the occasional "suckers"... on both the buying and selling ends).
It will take just a few minutes of research but it will definitely give you the value of your lens. Sounds like it's worth something. I hope that helps.

peter
I still own one and like it. It never had a great reputation like say the 35-70 f2.8 but its a respectable lens that performs well at most focal lengths if you stop it down a little. It certainly has the same wonderful build quality of that era of lenses. Also like the 28-85 AF of the same era (which is also built well, sharp and produces very crisp images yet can be picked up dirt cheap on eBay) its under-rated and should not be sniffed at just because John Q public does not know better. However you will not make big bucks from any sale because John Q clearly does not know better!

tri-x1
You won't get much on ebay but it is a well-built lens and if I remember correctly has a marco setting. The 135mm tele seems to have fallen out of favor over the years. I sold mine not long ago in near mint condition for $95 and thought I was doing pretty good. It was a good lens and I liked it bokeh. I just seldom used it after I got a 18-70mm for my D300.
smarksphotography
Thanks for all the helpful answers. I also had a 8008 which I liked quite a bit. I remember thoroughly enjoying the F1 too. I really liked Nikon in general until I got their Coolpix 5000 (I think it was) which I didn't like much at all. Then the first Rebel came out I jumped ship to Canon and now have a heavy investment in Canon class to really look back.

Thanks again.
