Matt... Did you try it? I just opened my NX to download a shot on the WeDNeSDaY PiC thread and the upgrade poped up! I'll try it next week coz I'm very busy now... No time to play! :)

Jens... I didn't know!

John... Sorry! Some times I forget there are PC users too! :) Thanks for the link coz I think there are many of us who don't know about it!

I actuually tried the upgrade from the European site last week, but it wouldn't let me. Not sure why. But i ran the upgrade just now, off the link above and it worked.
On another note...anyone notice the changes in the NIKON USA supprt pages? Well, i logged into my profile pages there, and everything i entered since i started there some time ago, and that i registered there, is GONE! all my s/n's lenses, bodies, everything GONE! and the worst part of it, i used those s/n's of the software especially, for the upgrades etc when i needed to enter them. Damn....i'm screwed

A lot of people have been reporting that there are a few bugs with the latest update, ive had a couple myself, the main one is not being able to print, keeps coming up with an error. It got to the stage where I have now uninstalled NX2 and reverted back to an earlier version. Im now in the processs of trying to resolve these few glitches with Nikon Europe, so hopefully we should be back up to full speed soon. As an aside, the updates for ViewNX and Transfer are ok and, so far, seem to work as they should.

Hi Rene and others, do you know if this version overwrites the former version of NX2 or is a completely new version?
After downloading the windows version will I be able to run both the former version of NX2 and version 2.2.0 assuming I put it into a separate file folder?
I want to download it but prefer to preserve my currenct version in case I have any problems with the new version. Not sure how I can accomplish this.

Someone asked if it overwrites the previous version - and it does. Amusingly, after I had downloaded (but not yet installed) the upgrade, I asked the older installed version to check if there was an update available: of course it said there wasn't. How does this simple test get omitted before release? The UI, QC, and testing of this application is disgraceful, coming as it does from such a major company. It can produce good results but it's a struggle.
I have noticed unpredictably slow launch and occasional hanging up of the whole application window - it being impossible to move - with the "traffic lights" in the upper right corner winking erratically. Perhaps it's trying to tell me something. It also seems to violate Windows protocols when it does this by overhanging the taskbar.
The UI is still extremely odd. Some documentation about how it interprets the lens data to correct the various distortion parameters would be helpful. When I read the (sparse) release notes it appeared that it might use a DxO style lens mapping. But for which lenses and exactly how, who knows?
Luckily it came "free" with my D700.

There have been problem reports with the 2.2 update. Its probably best to completely uninstall any previous version and clean the registry as well before installing 2.2. The number of complaints in various photography forums has fallen off in the last few days, possiblyh due to reinstalations. If all else fails, throw your computer in the ocean.
