g_girino
Am I right that these functions are not available through EpsonScan?
Lino
AaronFalkenberg
Correct. Vuescan offers both, but I believe Silverfast only has the latter. I prefer multisampling since it eliminates the possibility of registration errors between multiple full scans and is still excellent at reducing noise.
sknowles
I think Silverfast's multiscan offsets the need for multisampling, or at least they advertise the fact which also reduces noise.
Dave Luttmann
It does Scott. Unfortunately, having the multiscan actually overlap the images well, considering how sloppy the steppers can be, can be an exercise in frustration. I find it help to do one dummy scan to work the glass, holder and film....and then do the real scan.
g_girino
Dave,
Do you consider glass mounting a must for good scans? also for 35 mm film (I suppose it is more important for larger films)?

Lino
Dave Luttmann
I do recommend mounting MF and larger. I fluid mount my 4x5. For 35mm, I use a Minolta Scan Dual IV and have found no need to glass mount.
