The initial rumor about it was that it would be an 8MP camera... the advantage an 8MP camera with today's sensors would have over a 12MP camera would all be in the reduction of noise, as well as hedging away from diffraction limitations with current lens offerings... although unfortunately, the market would probably look at 8MP as a trivial half-hearted attempt.... especially considering 10+ MP P-N-S cameras now available. My question about legacy lenses mostly revolves around Leica glass... if Oly pitched it right they could have Leica users and Leica-wanna-be users buying them up by the crate.

I would rather have 8mp on the u4/3 frame than more megapixels and more noise.
Keep in mind that 8mp is more than enough for the biggest print size people normally order from the photolab. Also, 8mp on a u4/3 is equivalent to 32mp on a FF 35mm digital sensor.
At any rate if you need to have more pixels you can use Genuine Fractals to increase file size 2x-4x without much degradiation and then print larger. If you need to routinely print poster size then maybe a FF 35mm DSLR would be better to begin with. Most of us don't print that big so Genuine Fractal and Noise Ninja could in combo acheive large prints from an 8MP file.
