Eventective?

I know there was at least one thread about Eventective here before, but I get no hits now. I was hoping that

since that previous thread there might be more information available.

Has anyone paid the $2.50 and gotten a gig through one of these "leads" they keep e-mailing me about?

I can't help, but I'm just as curious as you are. I bit on two, but haven't even gotten a "don't bother me". I'm not entirely turned off, but I think it's important to read carefully the little information provided, such as whether the event planner has a budget. As always, I guess it's important to pay attention to wording: "want photographer prices..." if they're price-conscious, they might not be my customer, even though I'm no higher than mid-level.

If you get any help, or have any insights of your own, send me a message: spectrumphotography@photocurt.com

I signed up for an early response premium listing on Eventective last year, and had a response budget to work with ... so I responded to over a dozen leads that had budgets indicating a fit with my pricing ... and never heard a peep.

So I tried an experiment , and responded directly with a PFD in an e-mail while dropping prices to ridiculous levels, to see if that would garner any responses ... also not a peep.

No phone call was ever returned when a phone number was provided. I did not renew my premium listing ... but still responded to a few good sounding listings to use up my remaining response budget ...not a single response ... none!

I think Eventective is primarily a hunting ground for venues, and sometimes the event date isn't even firm. It would be interesting to know if venues even get anything in response.

IMHO, it is a waste of money, and a huge waste of time. Avoid it like the plague.

Ditto,
I've paid for perhaps thirty of these Eventective "leads" and got one email response, which never got back with me. I don't have any evidence the company is not up and up but I think the setup just isn't effective. True, if one got a single decent wedding from perhaps a dozen lead it might be worth it.
They now have a "dashboard" which allows the bride or planner to go directly to their site and get emails from your business but I've just started a few of these. One of the problems in the past, which I discussed with them, is the possibility that emails are ending up in folks spam boxes.
I think there are more effective ways to reach your target market.
Denton

Greetings from Eventective. Thank you for sharing your feedback.

There are different perspectives on what works for vendors depending on past experience with lead providers, the types of services they offer and their sales and marketing budgets. A listing on Eventective complements your other sales and marketing activities and gives you exposure to the 1.2 million people using Eventective each month to plan events.

Internet lead purchases can be a numbers game, but Eventective does take the risk out of it with our refund policy for invalid (incorrect email address or phone number) and non-responsive leads. Planners may be in the beginning stages of planning their events and not respond to you right away because they are trying to finalize other details such as the venue. It is not uncommon for a vendor to hear from a planner weeks later. You can read feedback from clients who have used Eventective and benefitted from the leads here http://www.eventective.com/tmplt/tmplt.aspx?cmsuid=testimonial

We have recently launched new features that better connect the people planning events with the venues and vendors they need, including the ability to exchange emails through Eventective to avoid emails going to spam folders and tools to manage and track responses. For those of you with access to your Eventective listing and leads, you can sign-in to your account at and start using these features.

recently I received 3 leads from Eventective for the same day, from 3 cities. First let me say I'm based in Indianapolis, but listed with them for leads within a 2 hour radius, that said. I was given 3 leads, all for events on 5/7/2010, no problem, 1 a banquet in Indianapolis, 1 a reception in Anderson (1 hour away) and the 3rd for a reception in Columbus (1 hour away). Not bad I thought, until I asked for more info before purchasing the phone numbers & Email addresses ($2.50 each), it seems all 3 were from the same couple! Now why would a couple looking for suppliers less than 60 days from they're event request info for 3 distinctly different cities? Yea, maybe unsure of where to host it, but what about the guests?? AND then theres that other thing that stunk about this whole situation, WHY did the say reception in 2 & banquet in the other, , , , perhaps FAKE?? This is the second time in 2 months I received 3 lead offers for the same day, in my email box less than 3 minutes apart.

I'm going to save my money, I've bought way too many leads that never responded to Emails or phone calls from this company & now I see more & more complaints.
My biggest question in all of the leads I've received, Why are almost 90% of the email addresses from FREE email accounts??
I can poll any number of people on Myspace, or Facebook & I bet they're main email address is not a freebie, and by freebie I mean Gmail, Yahoo & Hotmail.
I have done 12 years of business on Ebay & I'll bet if I sorted all of those addresses I've kept, less than 15% will be a freebie email address!

Save your money stop using Eventective!

So I own and Event Planning company in Florida. I have used Eventective for about 6 months and I may not be a pro on selling via Internet leads but have bought a few hundred and have used the refund policy hardly ever get responses but I am a believer if you keep trying something will break and it doesn't take that much time to send an email 2 days ago I get a message from eventective telling me i am a refund abuser and can now only receive direct leads. However if i go from my free account to a paid account they will unlock my restricted access I have been fighting because i believe I should buy leads and be visible as many places as i can they wrote today telling me making the decision for me that eventective was not a good match for my company because of my abusive refund rate. If I wouldn't have asked for a refund on the over 200 leads I have bought and haven't gotten responses or the emails or phones were disconnected or the people yelled asking how i got their number then this wouldn't be a problem cause eventective would be making money. And if i book I don't mind paying Jesus I pay TheKnot and GetMarried to have full page ads because they provide creditable leads. the staff at Eventective especially in marketing are not customer service related the marketing director instead of dealing with me sent me to a customer service agent. the COO doesn't respond and someone with the title operations Manager tells me whats good for my company. please assist me in getting the word out about these shabby business practices it will only better our industry.
