bobby_rembert
I am trying to create a website to advertise my photography. I am going for that popular flash look that alot of photogs have been using. Its simple and the pics are readily available for the possible client to view. I am using dreamweaver and have created my four main pages. are these flash galleries built from the ground up or can u download these layouts some how? examples: www.davidejackson.com www.davejacksonphotography.com www.judithannphotography.com . can i do this my self or is it better to have a designer do it for me?

aleksander_obinski
You can also google: "SlideShowPro" it`s flash portfolio template around $30 and with additional $30 you will get software to organize your library on the server. It`s not free but reasonable price considering the quality and flexibility in managing your images on the fly.

mikael_karlsson
Bobby:

Which software are you using to edit and work with your images? Most (Photoshop and Lightroom to mention just two) come with a fairly capable slideshow/gallery maker built in.

Then there's Coppermine and JAlbums both competent photo gallery building software that come with a plethora of templates and options. I use Coppermine for the galleries on my site ArrestingImages™ if you want to check it out - just click on the humungous button that read Photogalleries on the main page. Once set up Coppermine is easy to mess around with, update, move pics around etc.

mikael_karlsson
Bobby:

You're correct that all the software you mention have gallery functions that you can use to build your galleries. Also you should be able to find loads of templates (both free and otherwise) for the various pieces of software you use simply by searching the web for such templates.

Personally I like the Lightroom gallery tools and often use that when I need to make quick presentations to clients. Very compatible across platforms and viewers.
dave_jackson2
My friends are always s hounding me to finish my website so I got a real kick out this popping up on my stat counter .
I use Winklet and had the modifications for the photo sizes done for about $60.00 if I recall correctly. I think all together I paid about $100 total. It' been awhile , those photos are about two-three years old . Thanks for the incentive to get it done.
If you have any questions please email me and I'll be happy to help out if I can.
