Where do you get your models? (noncommercial)

<p>Question to those interested in fine-art photography: how do you find your models?</p>

<p>why not just ask somebody you would like to use as a model?</p>

<p>I tried both, model mayhem and asking somebody....asking somebody is much more reliable, some of the girls on model mayhem think they are better than they actually are and want to be paid in $$ rather than prints. I have just started getting invloved in the fashion inductry here in Perth and I have had offeres from top models to sit in front of a camera for me...for nothing, just to practise...needless to say my jaw is still rubbing along the ground haha</p>

<p>I get them from Model Mayhem by casting for the type of shoot I interesting in doing. My MM# is <strong>505665 </strong>and you can see the casting I have done in the past.</p>

<p>The last casting, I had way too many replies so I had setup another photo shoots for some of the models some I rejected from the first shoot I cast for. I even have models to work with in January and February of next year.</p>

<p>I guess it is were you live also determines how easy it to find models because in New York City I find it easy to find them.</p>

<p>Thanks for answering. I live in Moscow, Russia. Funny enough, there are models from Moscow at mayhem (what a name!). I tried similar Russian web-sites, my friends and even dating web-sites. In my experience, girls from models sites are mostly interested in glamor photos, and my current interest is to learn bringing out personality. So I was curious to see where others get their victims :)</p>

I'm pretty sure it's a geographical thing but I've had better luck with them - where I live - than I have with modelmayhem.</p>

<p>So it seems that most photographers get their models from model sites. I will also try myspace or its Russian equivalent.</p>

<p>Put an ad in the newspaper.</p>

<p>Do you have something like craigslist? That is a reasonable source here in San Francisco - someone I know who occasionally posts here gets most of his models through craigslist.</p>

<p>IMHO, model sites are better than newspapers because I can choose. This is not work for money, I don't need just any kind of clients, I want people with meaningful personality, so I like to select them rather than have them select me.<br>

I found a good thread in livejournal.com for models and photographers. No classifieds for erotic services, mostly people interested in photography.</p>

<p>I agree that model sites are better than newspapers, and I think, better then Craigslist. I've gotten tired of OMP and Model Mayhem. I just launched a model and photographer community that in time will help people connect.
