Will a Lens for Nikon F50 fit and work with the D50

A friend of mine is thinking of taking the plunge and finally buying a Digital SLR. I have been recommending the

Nikon D50 to him as I have one and am very happy with it and also you can pick them up relatively cheaply on Ebay.

He has been using a Nikon F50 up to now so we were wondering if the 50mm lens he has for this fit and work with a

D50 if he bought one. He does not mind losing autofocus for the time as if it fits he could savehimself some money

by buying the D50 body only.

Thanks for your replies.

Personally, I wouldn't buy the D50 just because of one lens. And if I am correct the 135mm mentioned is a manual focus lens.

I have a D70 and now a D300, and MF lenses are not particularly good on either for focusing manually. Perhaps I'm getting too old.

Also, MF lenses won't give an exposure reading on the D50 so that's another issue to consider.

However, I really loved the D70, and as I understand it, the D50 may actually give better image quality.
