incomplete print menu Epson 3800

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I am sure someone might be able to help me with this. I got an Apple Imac 2 Ghz Intel Core 2 with Mac OS 10.5.5. I use Capture NX 1.3.1

as well as Aperture 2.1.2. I also got an Epson Stylus Pro 3800 Printer. Now here is my difficulty: I can print pictures all right, some of them

come out very well too, but I can't find some options in the print menu of either application. Those are: Print Quality, Speed, Colour

Settings, Advanced B&W Photo, and probably even more! Maybe it is just me beeing thick. Thank you for your input.

install the latest driver for it. when done, your mac should see your printer in the print preference, delete it by slecting it and press the - sign. then click on the + sign and select your printer again..after 20sec or so you should see the pritner name and some info in the below box..press OK. The driver is 6.13, and when you are in the correct menu when you print you should see AccuPhoto HD, Advanced BW, BW only..if you dont see that..youre not using the epson driver but a generic one or a old one.

Hi there, Paul and Patrick,

Thank you ever so much for your input. I actually did install 6.11 only yesteday, but it did not improve the situation. I

thought maybe I have to uninstall the old driver first. I did that today and re-choose the printer in the Print & Fax

preferences in the hope that it might cure things, but alas. Still the same. The help file in the Print & Fax dialog

interestingly says the following:

"Specifying your printer’s features

You can specify the options installed on your printer if the options weren’t accurately detected when you added it or if

you changed your printer’s options after you added it.

For example, the Print dialog may not display options for two-sided printing because the printer’s duplex unit wasn’t

detected. Or you may have moved an extra paper tray from one printer to another so your printer doesn’t detect it.

To specify your printer’s features:

Choose Apple menu >System Preferences and click Print & Fax.

Select your printer in the Printers list.

Click Options & Supplies, and then click Driver.

Select the options you want to see when you print."

I did that but there are no options displayed...

Puzzled

Thank you all for your advise,

I did indeed phone up Epson and re-installing the driver eventually cured the problem. I now have all the printer options available in

Aperture 2. I still do not get the complete range of printer options in Capture NX, but I don't mind. Capture is good for some things, but I

am allways glad to get out of it quickly.

All the best,

Martin
