Tower 19 aka Olympus Ace E light seals

Over thanksgiving I made my pilgrimage to the local thrift stores near my daughter's house. In one I found a Tower 19

aka Olympus Ace E camera with the 45mm f2.8 lens. Appears to be fully functional. Compared the selenium meter

to my OM 1n and they appear to read the same. Though to replace the seals. Using a toothpick I expected to come

up with the gummy remains of foam. Instead appeared a few black fibres, so I assume this uses felt light seals. How

often do felt seals need replacement? Should I stick to felt or use foam?
