scott_thompson17
Ok, I searched here and other forums to no availe! So here is my question-- For the 3rd time now, my wife has gone to WalMart and WalGreens to print out some pics that I took of our Senior Son, and they have give her the run-around for not having a © release with the CD of photos I gave her to print from. Does anyone know where I can download these type of forms or show me what they have used in the past? This is REALLTY getting frustarting for her, as anytime she runs to make prints, she is getting harrasses by the employees for not having this form! I do realize that this is a good thing for you pro photog's(I am not 1 of you---but someday I hope) that they watch out for © protection. Thanks, and i look forward to some replies! ellis_vener_photography
All you needto do is type of a little note with your name and phone number on it that saysyou are the author of the photos and that you authorize Mrs. Thompson to have prints made from the photos on the disk. elnoralouisa
If you go to the same Walgreens and Walmart all the time, you can go in and sign a form that they will file.
robertshantz
<P>Scott, <P>What I do is just go to to the Wal-Mart website (I would think that Walgreens has a similar process) and upload the files for printing. That way they are ready when I get there. <P>I've never had copyright problems with either uploads or CD's -- that could just be a difference in stores. But the upload would give you somewhat less chance for the local staff to question your right to print the photos. <P>If you're not in a hurry, you can have the photos mailed to you. But postage will more than offset the per print savings unless you're ordering quite a few.
Charles_Webster
I now print a release, saying that the owner has the right to make prints from the CD on the CD label itself, so it can't be misplaced or misread by someone in a Walmart/Ritz/Kinkos <Chas>
scott_thompson17
Thanks for all the replies! I have made a release form of my own(with some help from others!) and have a JPEG of it to place on the actual CD as well as a paper copy for the customer, both signed by me. Thanks again! darylann
Scott, I need to add a side note here... I would hope that you would consider the "harassment" a form of flattery, in a sense. Apparently the images you captured look good enough to put up red flags to the employees as possibly being "professional" portraits. That's gotta be worth something, right?
