I am in Conn, and my foliage excursions have always been up in New England. Just trying a different slant this year and

wanted to know what is the usual "peak" window for that area of NY State.

Also, since I will traveling a fair amount of distance to get there, please fell free to recommend the "don't miss" locations I

should see along the journey! Thx Rick

They were saying on the news last night (I live in NYC) that upstate should start seeing color towards the end of this

week/early next week, quickly spreading from there. A cold front is supposed to come in around tomorrow night and bring

night time lows in the 40s/ possibly even high 30s towards the end of the week. That should kick some fall colors into

action.......

Hello! I live in the middle of the Finger Lakes region, Penn Yan. Not sure if you've already made your trip, but we haven't hit peak yet. Because of the surrounding waters, we usually peak a little later than other areas of upstate. Some trees have changed color but many are just beginning to change. If you make it as far as the Naples area, I suggest you go the the Ontario County Park (AKA "The Jump Off") ... it gives way to beautiful sites and sports the highest elevation of Ontario County. If in Naples, make sure you take home a grape pie! They make the best! Some Finger Lakes locations for fall foliage near the area you are speaking of visiting:

Watkins Glen State Park, off Route 14 in the Finger Lakes, hiking trail along a gorge with waterfalls and rapids.

The scenic overlook on County Route 12 in Naples offers views of Canandaigua Lake.

Bristol Mountain, Route 64, chairlift rides.

Ontario County Park -- Jump Off, Route 64 in Naples, part of the Finger Lakes Trail and the highest point in Ontario County with views of the Naples Valley.

Fillmore Glen State Park on Route 38, Moravia is a hike along a glen filled with heavily wooded area.

Skaneateles Lake overlook in Cortland County. Start at North Main Street in the Village of Homer, take Rt. 41 north, through the Hamlet of Scott for 10.5 miles.
