I made a similar mistake in the Minolta forum a while back. A bunch of condescending, snivelers live there." Will, I thought I would say this publicly, seeing as you posted about it publicly. I read the thread you mentioned, and I believe you snapped far too quickly. This isn't an attack on you, and neither am I criticising your behaviour; I'm just pointing out how I see the situation. It's difficult to read (ironically) people's intentions on a forum when you can't see their gestures or hear their tone of voice, and I believe you misinterpreted Richard Harris's intentions. Rich happens to post every now and then on the Pentax forum because he owns some Takumar glass that he mounts on his digital Sony. I have had various exchanges with him outside of this forum and I can attest to him being a nice, polite guy (as well as a very competent photographer). Reading his reply to you, and knowing how he is, I see nothing to indicate that he was trying to be anything but helpful. These misunderstandings happen Will, and we need to be aware of them when dealing with new people. I always try to give posters I'm not familiar with the benefit of the doubt, and I presume they are nice and cordial until they prove me otherwise. I hope you're not offended with my post, but I thought I would try to clear things up for your benefit, and for the benefit of this forum and photo.net in general. alisa_stieg
"Although, I can't see the 6 year old ever weighing more than 60 pounds full grown"...I KNOW! She's so stinkin' tiny! I hate to inform you parents of such young ones, but here's the scoop...when they start driving, you won't BELIEVE how much sleep you'll lose. The regular sleep you actually DO get between the ages of 12 and 16 are simply meant to strengthen you during the lean years! LOL! Sleep? What is that anyways? will_daniel1
Hey, Mis -- no offense taken. I see there is disagreement here, and that's healthy. I don't think I ever used the word "attack" and I didn't view it that way -- just a condescending tone on his part that wasn't necessary or appreciated. I haven't changed my mind on that, so we can all just agree to disagree. In the interest of burying the hatchet, I concede that my original post in that other forum broke the rules because I was trying to dump an unwanted item. I didn't think I was breaking any rule, and didn't intend to. And I haven't changed my mind about the tone of the response. The responder could have just ignored my post if he didn't want the lens. If he is the moderator of that forum, that's different, and he should have said so. He didn't. I think we're done on this one. Thanks for the feedback. le-plume
Alisa: good thing we live in France, we've got an extra two years before driving age... Oh wait, no, they can drive motorcycle before that... (This has to be one of the goofyest trhead ever. Don't let it die, folks!)
mcmanamey
Everybody needs a little goofy in their life! Keep it going strong!!! Chritophe - I was going to ask where you lived, since you mentioned living in a tourist destination. I haven't had a huge laugh from the forums since the "green photography" thread where matt started posted a pic of every refinery or power plant he worked in.... Lotsa good snorts... lets see if we can take the snort laugh right up to flat ROLFMAO
tom_clemons
Well, I have bad news for all of you that think you might one day catch up on your long lost sleep. I have 2 sons. The oldest is 38, and the younger one is 33 -- and they both still cost me sleep. :)

mcmanamey
Christophe - I may consider living darn near in the middle of the US fairly boring (and no, i will NOT move to a coast. I visit em only. It's Kansan thing, I think).... I am generally exceptionally glad I do not live in a tourist destination. Is it irritating, boring, or just normal w/ a whole lot of extra people? O my goodness. I've been asleep during they day for the last few days. I JUST NOW caught my letter reversals. I think I'll take a nap now.
le-plume
Nah, it's not too bad - we don't cross path that much, actually. Wost part is those double-decker sightseeing buses that appear to be driven by drunk chimps. I nearly collided with one of those (and since I was driving a scooter I wouldn't have come out on top) because the driver was busy eating breakfast at the wheel... Otherwise, it's OK. Since I sort of speak the language, I often try to help English-speaking visitors who appear to be lost; trying to compensate for the usual rudeness of my fellow Parisians. You get to meet pleasant people this way.<div></div>
