"home made" closeup/portrait kit for land 195 plaroid

Recommended Posts

Hi - im trying to put together a portrait filter kit for my land 195. As i understand it takes filter diameter on 44.5.

Now - ive searched every where and it seems like its the only diameter i cant find. My plan is to get slip on/ over

adapter OR a 44.5 mm srew in adapter to take a Hoya 1+2+3 ( this i can get on B&H) closeup kit with a diameter on

46 mm or even bigger depending on the diameter on the adaptor. Does anyone know where i can find this adapter

being a srew in or a slip on/over. thanks anna

You don't mention the outer diameter of the lens. If you can measure the outer "slip-on" diameter, it might be possible to use a standard adapter ring taped around the lens, or use one of the slip-one "adapter tubes" used for digital cameras. This would also be nice because it would open you up to using color filters as well. Check out the section of camerafilters.com labelled "adapter tubes"... unfortunately it's organized by brand and not by diameter. I would try to measure the outer diameter as accurately as possible and then check that page. Open each "brand" section and then look at the first number listed for each adapter tube, or press Ctrl-F and search the whole page for the basic diameter you are looking for. With some luck you might find an exact fit, and if you do, you should email the guys at the landlist.org to update this page:

It's possible that the lens filter thread was set up for use with series VI adapters. I can't remember if they are 44.5mm or not. I will check one of mine when I get home. If that's the case, then you can get those on ebay from member: macintoshcat. He has all types of series adapters and step up/down rings.

Shame about the rarity of the 195 kit. Last year I bought a 250 kit that included a close-up kit, flash bulb attachment, timer, cold-weather-development-armpit-warming-thingy and a couple of other things for US$30 - it looks barely used.

The 250 and other automatic models go cheaply because the original batteries are hard to find - however, that's easily worked around with 3 x "N" batteries in series - taped together with the battery leads they even fit in the original battery compartment.

So, I know it's less ideal than the 195's manual controls, but if the closeup/portrait kits are important to you and rigging a solution for the 195 proves difficult or impractical, I would suggest looking into the 250 or other automatic models whose kits are easier to find, and with very little effort can be made to work with modern batteries.
