Duane: I'm not sure about the proper (english) jargon. When you open the photonet-page in your browswer, and not have it maximum-ized, you get a window that you can control in size. On the right and bottom there are also scroll-bars. With them I cut off your photo until just before the waterpipe. I use that often to check composition.

@Patrick - The pinwheel field is an interesting subject including the shadows they cast on the ground. There's something a little unsettling about having their stems chopped at the bottom; perhaps it was unavoidable, but it reminds me of shooting people and cutting them off at the ankles.

@Guy G. - that's one of the more impressive flower shots I remember seeing recently.

@Hin, I like the first one best with the nice out-of-focus background colors. Pretty good detail on the third one too.

Ooops (sorry, too quick on the trigger)--with line breaks:

Great stuff as usual!<br>

I'm on holiday for the first time in 4 years, so I have too many pics to pp, and not much time near a computer until today - yeehah. So I'll probably post a thread in the next few days that is topical to what I have been shooting.<br>

But let me comment on just a few that really stand out to me:<br>

@Frederik - Bad Moon Rising is really moody! It looks a little soft, but that may just be pnet resizing or something. Great way to kick start the thread!!<br>

@Markus - great cat shot, even though I'm not a cat guy!<br>

@Javier - love the birds!<br>

@Dave - stunning abstract!<br>

@O Shiva - love your work! Will comment on your thread too.<br>

@Duane - love your stone house. I think moody skies catch my eye.<br>

@Thomas - love the third shot! I understand the monotony of your job, but geesh! I'd love to get your perspective on the universe instead of mine, just for 2 weeks!<br>

@Patrik - the pinwheels look almost unreal - nice capture.<br>

@Guy - my favorite flower macro of the week! (Sorry Hin;-))<br>

@Scott - what you selling? Boats? Trips? Clean air? With that shot I'll buy it - whatever it is!!<br>

@Andrew - great drips! Nice composition and light.<br>

@Hin - the first is the best I think. Something about being so close up that it becomes almost abstract speaks more powerfully than just a flower.<br>

@Young - Great to have a Samsung user on here! Welcome to the POW. Like the second shot. Would prefer to see slightly more of one or both of the subjects faces, but still really great atmosphere. May just be that I love the b&w though?

Garry: Congrats on your vacation, well deserved. And Yes, p-net somehow screws up the sharpness. They are very very sharp au naturelle, even after re-sizing in faststone. Don't know what to do about it though.

Young Y: I love high contrast B&W

Scot: That canoe is beautiful, got to appreciate old school workmanship like that. Beautiful.

Dan: "Elvis" is precious.

Somanna: That's one part of a backyard? I like the colours in it.

The macros are great. Not much of a fan of the subjects though. Then again, maybe I'm just jealous not having a macro lens ;-)

Andrew: Yours are great. I wonder if she's aware there's a rat on her lap though :-)

Thomas: Gotta love the desert. Where are the little green men?

mk, sorry to be a bit late on the posting, but, well, my first opportunity to go back packing this summer takes precedence

over my desire to post my picture on sunday ;).

and lest, when you see this picture, you think me to be a terrible steward of the environment, I'll explain the raging campfire:

me and two friends went to oak mountain state park (this little gem of a wilderness area nestled in the middle of Birmingham,

AL) and found a side trail, decided to explore, and about a mile later we stumbled onto an obvious campground complete

with a BIG fire ring and a spectacular view (by AL standards) looking east over the city. so we took advantage of the

luxurious amenities ;).

unfortunately, it was cloudy and hazy the entire time we were out, so my hopes of sunrise photos were spoiled.<div>00QTzG-63705784.jpg.e52a387a98fd58bf923161e9be34a304.jpg</div>

I've been too busy to post any photos from last week, and I didn't shoot much anyway. :-(<br>

<br>

Just in case somebody is still following this thread, here's a pic from a birthday party I attended on Friday.

This is the house dog, a very cute, chilled out doggie, not the annoying, yapping mutt that these small dogs

often are. Taken with the FA 50mm f/1.4 (party lens extraordinaire) at some silly high ISO. What the hell, I'll

post two of him, he's a star.<br>
