fredonian
Today I noticed a V35 model enlarger that had a different labeling on it's head; Instead of being labeled with the standard "Focomat V35 Autofocus" it was labled "Leica V35" with "FOCOMAT" in smaller letters directly below it. The enlarger seemed to be the same but I was wondering what the story is behind it? I figured the one labeled "Leica" might have been a newer model becuase the paint on the lever arm had not darkened from age as I see in most models and was bright and fresh looking. It matched the paint on the head perfectly. Just curious. Thanks! Charles in Texas
fredonian
Perhaps it's silly (and not related to the original question), but is it just me, or does anyone else think the V35's have a beautiful...somewhat... "70's Space Age" slightly "Danish Modern" appeal to them? I was only four years old (in 1975) when that style was in, and I seem to recall it being short lived. I find them a joy to look at. ronald_moravec1
Mine says Leitz in a red ball, Focomat V35 below just above the neg carrier. It was purchased in 1988 about. With all the ownership changes, the Leitz name got dropped along the way as the family were no longer owners.
ray .
Best, most solid enlarger I've ever used. Still have mine, wondering if I will ever get back to darkroom printing again..
fredonian
Do you mainly do color printing? I would have no reason to keep a darkroom for color photography, but I mainly do black and white. I doubt inkjets could ever match the glow of a genuine silver black and white print, so I retain a darkroom for this reason. I've noticed the prices of enlargers dropping fairly rapidly on "the big auction" site. I noticed a few Leitz condensor enlargers ( with focotar lens and the works) recently ending with final bids of under seventy five dollars. Kind of sad. ray .
I've only done black and white. No, it's not worth selling it. I'll hold onto it in case I decide to use it again someday.
