ronald_moravec1
Windows XP pro. It works perfectly anyplace else, but I made the mistake of going there to check out new LR because I forgot not to do it with windows. Sure nuff, freeze. Anything I can do? This has be been going on for 4+ months, but I didn`t keep a log
rnt
Uninstall Java and Flash from your system. Try Adobe site again. If it more or less works, reinstall flash, check again, and then reinstall java. If you have plugins for your browser, consider uninstalling them temporarily as well. You might also try firefox or a different browser to see if that makes a difference. bgelfand
As Robert notes, Adobe makes extensive use of Flash (no surprise there). Here is a link to the Lightroom page: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshoplightroom/ Does it also freeze your browser?
ronald_moravec1
Thanks. Does it freeze my brouser? I guess so because i have to get out of the application and restart IE7.
ronald_moravec1
The develope modeule page for LR is what froze it earlier tonight, but I went in thru the middle page from the link provided and then hit develope module. Now it started loading getting ready to play! This is the first time in months any Adobe page would work. As Dr Brown would say, amazing but true. bernardwest
Could it be a corrupted cookie issue? Try deleting your cookies, or at least any adobe ones, and see if that helps.
jpuckett
Do you have pop-ups disabled in IE...I run on XP also and some sites will freeze if pop-ups are disabled in IE..I guess it doesnt like not being able to present ads to you... Also, as Robert suggested go to Mozilla and look at Firefox and see if you may want to switch...I switched a few years back and find it much more stable and secure. Pesky spyware likes the holes in IE security. You may want to make sure you dont have a virus or a hijaked IE browser. A great anti virus is HijakThis by trend Micro..it will scan and see if you have any BHO's attached to IE. If you do use this be careful..it will find things that are needed...look for the results that have BHO...and see if something looks strange...if you have issues and not sure..HijkThis has a submit report button that will post a report to the forum and experienced folks will help you... And, the routine of clearing all of your cache, delete all files in your Temp Folder, All cookies and Temp Internet files located in the C:/documents and setting/users(make sure you visit administor and all user folders)/ local settings/(If local settings folder is not visible go to Tools at the top of the User folder you are in and select tools/folder options/file types/then select the radio button that says show all hidden files and folders) Open the temp and Temp Internet folders and HAND DELETE all files...make sure all applications are shut down so files will be out of memory. Hope this helps. JP
bgelfand
Hi Ronald, The initial link I posted does not contain any Flash. You wrote that on another page your browser froze when, "started loading getting ready to play." This would suggest you freeze when opening a page with a Flash object embedded. I suspect you have a faulty Flash installation. Go here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&promoid=BUIGP and install the latest version of Flash. patricklavoie
can you try another browser to see if the problem is from ie or from adobe?
wogears
Strongly agree that this is probably a Flash or JRE problem. I had this problem on my Mac after a reinstall/reformat. A look at the console log (event viewer/application on Win) showed that the fault was in Flash Player. Oddly, I had to download a standalone installer to get Flash to work correctly. garrison_k.
IE7? Yuck. As Patrick suggests, I'd download Firefox. Take 5 mins to download, install, import your favorites, get updates, and unless you have bigger issues, will work with Adobe site.
