PHOTOSHOP CS 3 BUG ???

Using Mac OS 10.5.3 +Photoshop CS3 I have notice some problemes.

- When I apply a Smart Sharpen filter to a merge/composite layer, the effect not apply at 100%. In the sharpen filter

window, I can see the effect a 100%, but when I click ok, the effect is not apply at a 100%.

- One more probleme, if merge all my layer to a new layer, this new composite/merge layer is slightly different in

contrast.

Did you ever experience such a thing like this using Ps3?

1. Are you looking at the filter window and the composite at the same viewing percentage? By default, at least with me, the sharpen window zooms into 100% automatically when I open it. If the current view is set to say 60%, the effect will look different on your screen.

2. Never had that problem from merging layers.

in both case is not a bug. depend of what blending mode you use, where, and why, when merged the composite could be darker or have a sligth contrast shift. It append to me on some file, sometime once a month..i can say what cause this, be i have been seing this for years.

as for the sharpen, im not sure i follow you, but let say that you need to be at 100% to see the effect once applied to your file. If you are in a smaller view, the sharpen will seem like disapearing.

Always look anything, sharpen or else at 25%-50%-100%

I havent experienced this either...however just asking here..when you are viewing your flat composite are you

viewing the 100% or maybe a 90%..also, if photoshop displays an image that is not in a proportional 100, 75, 50,

25 it kinda gives it a funky look. And photoshop does lower the contrast and change slightly when merging layers

that have inks applyed or

Also, are you mac or pc..Mac OS X Leopard has had many issues with value setting.

I have XP and I had a some funky results for CS3 ..printing problem..cropping issues when printed...adobe had a

patch..however it still has some issues with the new print interface..I wish they didnt change it. Value changes

going back to default..and some other weird irritating things with actions and fonts. Its scary sometimes,

like russian roulette, especially when you have a fast turn project.

Anyway It is said that CS3 has many bug issues so I would check the forums and search google for some

forums or post the issue on Adobe. But definitely look for the updates and patches on their site.

unfortunatly, a lot of bug are on the pc platform, dont know why..adobe must hate you : ) but i know that many vista user / adobe / epson had major problem. big blaze is on mac lucky him.

as i said earlier, what Big Blaze as experimented as for the contrast change its not a bug and i have witness it many time on different machine, os, and version on the past 15+years. i think it depnd a lot of the blending mode you use with what adjustment layers and where they are in the hierarchy

Yes Patrick! I can understand their pain!..will not go to vista..will switch to Mac before... I have to ask mommy

before I can open a door! Perhaps Adobe (PC) has done this build for Vista and xp->vista is very different.

And for Mac, I am glad Big Blaze is using it and not getting bitten by as many bugs as some of us have...but the

sharpen issue could be a bug..again seek the adobe support..
