imagesbylori
First off, let me say I LOVE millers albums. they are beautiful. However, their album builder is not MACcompatible, so i have to use the composite designer to make the layouts through labprints, upload, email them myorder #, and then have them assembled in an album. And half the time, the prints are printed, and shipped to me w/o being assembled into the album. so then i haveto send them back...yadda yadda. How can a major company like Millers not have mac compatible software!!?? So, what are some alternatives for mac users? anyone else uploading through labprints to a different lab thatcarries albums? thank you! =) Lori
bill_clark___minnetonka_mi
Hi Lori! Sorry about your frustration as these moods a vendor can put us into detracts from the creative side that many of us want to utilize. I use WHCC. What I do is submit jpegs and they make the prints. Many of mine are of the 10x20 variety. They send the prints to me. I take a look at them and then send to Pictobooks. I believe you can have Pictobooks do most anything, from designing to printing and the album binding. I choose to lay out the album in CS3, have WHCC print and then send to Picto for binding. Have you thought about trying WHCC? They are located very near me and if I place and order in the morning I will have it at my door the next day. I only use MACs for my photography business. Hope this helps you!
toddcwilson
VM Ware for Mac and install Windows on your Mac machine. Them install whatever app you need for your particular situation in the Windows environment. I know, sounds counter intuitive, did to me at first, but for those apps that still hold out only for windows it's the way to go. Good luck. brooke_moore
I use Millers a lot but do have a PC have you spoken directly to them? Their tech people are awesome and I think there is a way to use the software with a MAC but you have to have a patch. Try calling them and work your way through to someone who really knows what the issues are. Candid may be MAC friendly but I am not sure. Are you looking for press books or photo printed books? That will be a difference in who you go to. MAC is not as popular these days so you might need to organize to run the software with your MAC as a PC based one. I have a few friends who can run both MAC and windows compatible on their same computer and that solves the problem. Happy searching Brooke

There are several others out there but this on got the best press at the time I got it (4 months ago). "MAC is not as popular these days so you might need to organize to run the software with your MAC as a PC based one." Aside from the commercials we see;) the financials for these companies tell a little different story - both server based and end user. Although not dominant, they are becoming more popular. POINT HERE - cross-platform capability is the way ahead. Good luck!
toddcwilson
OH!- and the beauty is you can run your Win App while in OSX - just make sure you add virus protection installation for the windows operation. This is also good too for sites that are optimized for IE. Easy solution all around, just takes a little time.
ronald_moravec1
I keep two computers actually three. Two are Mac and one is a cheap bare bones windows I use to handle problens like this, excell, and a couple other odd things. It is cheaper than buying a MS OS to install on the mac. I refuse to partition my Mac.
toddcwilson
Ah - No need to even partition you Mac these days. VM Ware runs as a file. Insane. Fast. Large infrastructures implement this protocol for setting up domains, trees, forests ... crazy. BUT - no need for a partition if you don't want one.
