www.roelandebruijn.nl
One of the advertisers for this site is promoting a D3 for タ 2700.00http://www.globalmediapro.com/do/category/nikondigicam?campaign=Global&adgroup=NikonD3-stock-catThis is less money then needed for the D700. I cannot believe it, am I alone in thinking this is just to good to be true?

ShunCheung
You get what you pay for. If you pay nearly nothing, you will receive nearly nothing. :-)
timberwulf
Scam. Go ahead and try it, I guarantee it won't come with a battery, strap, charger, charger cord, etc. Now, naturally, they'll be happy to sell you those items - the battery will be $500, the strap $250, etc. And if you don't want to buy those things from them, the camera will suddenly be out of stock and backordered. elliot1
Best 'deal' I have found to date (where you will actually receive the camera) is for just under $3900 (on eBay), BUT it is a gray market camera.
Michael R Freeman
Yeah - this outfit is a real winner. Go ahead and order ... we'll watch the train wreck from here.
As of 1/12/2008, this merchant only accepts payment by wire transfer. www.roelandebruijn.nl
Look guys, I was suspicious to begin with. But it is an advertiser on this site. You'd expect some vetting from photo.net before placing ads, or is that just too naive? I wasn't actually planning on getting one, I have my sights set on D300/D700 combo. but if I could have had the D3 for that amount I wouldn't have hesitated. Maybe use it as a backup to my D300? :)
ShunCheung
Roeland, no, they are not an advertiser on this site. Photo.net sells ad space to Google, and Google puts whatever junk there; photo.net has no control over it. Unfortunately, Google has a very low (or no) standard for screening their ads. I do feel that photo.net is somewhat responsible for permitting this stuff to appear on our pages, though. But that is merely my personal opinion. Two23
Shun-- Maybe the standard is, if the check clears, it's a great advertiser! My thinking always is this. B&H is the largest seller of Nikon in the Western Hemisphere. If a place is advertising something for more than 2 or 3% less, I tend to look at it as a scam. ShunCheung
Kent, some stores can probably beat B&H by 10% in certain occasions. For example, B&H currently lists the SB-800 flash for $315. Two months ago I was at a PhotoShop seminar where B&H was a sponsor, and they were offering a "show special" for $290. So B&H has some built-in margin. If you see prices 20% or more cheapers than B&H, you probably want to stay away or at least check it out thoroughly.
carl_becker2
Adorama has some items for less than B&H. Places like that I will buy from. If its to good to believe then its no good at all.
Sanford
They must have pulled the D3 off their site. Some of their items, like the 50 mm F1.4 and F1.8 Nikkor are TWICE as expensive as they are at the reputable on line stores?!

eric_arnold
looks like a misprint. maybe they meant to say D300. their prices are actually much higher than B&H. by about 25%-33%. the 18-200 hasnt sold at $900+ for two years! and that's not including "transport." still, any e-store where payment is through wire transfer has been a bad boy. this shouldn't just raise a red flag, it should cause you to run screaming from your computer.
