Leica M 8 Batteries

Recommended Posts

Needed a spare AC and car charger, added two Japanese batteries, and yes, it was low cost, well, cheap, on ebay. Recommended by my dealer, said the batteries were equal, and offered to silk screen Leica on them for me. Everything seems to work well. Now, if I can get my US new phone battery to work.

I bought an Impact M8 equivalent battery from B&H, and after a few charges, it ceased to work properly. Mainly, I think, it

wouldn't get along with the charger, and so wouldn't get a full charge. I left it in the camera with the LCD on to run it all the

way flat, then recharged, and that helped matters, but after a while it went wonky again. I wouldn't buy it again.

I have that T shirt as well, but my tech savy good friend has more experience buying batteries for cameras and

electronics, and generally has fared well.

Price on my two spare batteries was low enough I do not remember, and though the guy had a Googlol of sales, he

still responded to my email before I ordered, to combine shipping, because you know it was mailed from afar.

Might be better off buying closer to the source??? Shipping may be more than replacement?

Have some friends who work the camera shows, and they agree, but like a flap jack, no matter how thin, it has two

sides.

I am just pissed off more when I pay high bucks and it still is bad.

I would think modern batteries should not have to completely discharge, but the technology is new enough that I

have not kept up. I know if a Ni Cad goes down, it often reverses polarity and you can start looking for that

proper disposal website.

Imagine our lives if we were still messing around with the batteries from the 70's, expensive, but lousy.

Hi,

I am using 2 $13 Hongkong made batteries for 2 month now and they are as good and as bad as the 3 original ones. One of the original

ones even does not last as long as the after market ones.

The price difference here in Australia is about $150. If I buy 3 I can buy a VC lens from the difference. But why would you buy a $400 lens

from Voigtlander if you spent 5000 bucks for a camera.

Regards

Volker

Be nice if some 3rd party made not only a good battery, but a charger than wasn't 8x larger than the ones for my Panasonic cameras. Travelling with that ridiculous clunky charger is the worst part and makes me go back to my M4 or M7. So it's not just price, gents, it's also convenience that a 3rd party battery could also provide. Maybe someone will figure this out for us; probably not Leica.
