a few images
HAHA! I hear that Haig, You need to be already stopped before you engage the brakes... Not at all effective for 'emergency braking situations'.. Haig, what a perfectly expressed image!! Hopefully not after looking at my photos ;)
travis_truman
@Alisa - my shot is a detail of the hood or trunk lid (can't remember which) of an early 90's Buick or Pontiac sedan that was suffering from some serious paint and clear coat delamination.
I titled the shot archipelago because it reminds me of a mythical landmass. alisa_stieg
Travis, I would NEVER have guessed paint on a car! WOW! Here are a couple I JUST SHOT! I thought it might be fun to try lightening...kind of scary with my poor little NOT weatherproof K100D...
Since that didn't accomplish much and was pretty much a lucky shot, I decided to try bulb mode to see what I'd get...
Kind of just illuminated the sky and showed the tops of the trees blowing...any hints? The last one is of my back yard at this same time...can you see the fireflies?
Lisa
alisa_stieg
Haig, ham or not, that is one cute subject! Tom, those are great shots! I find the last particularly intriguing...are you going to elaborate?
hagar
Thanks, Tom and Lisa.. Maybe it's the way I look when taking a photo that elicits all that hilarity.. Lisa, where be fireflies? Unless it's that bunch of what looks like lights sort of middle rightish? You're supposed to put them in a jar first. You get some neat photos like that. I don't think we have any here in Phoenix.. it's probably too hot even for 'fireflies' !! If you are going to do bulb exposures Lisa, methinks you need to have a dark sky.. probably more than an hour after sunset. I've never really had a successful lightning shoot.. so maybe somebody with more experience can help out here :-)
garry_young1
Alisa, you are right about the amount of pretty colleagues that I have. I often get accused of looking at appearances in the hiring process, but most of the pretty ones were not hired by me! (Don't want all the teacher's that I have hired to hear that!)
Actually when my wife saw my post above, she had a word or two to say! I said, "But I have a shot of a colleague that I like." Meaning that I like the shot, not the colleague! I mean I do like the colleague, but not that way! You know...? Uh, maybe I should stop while I am still ahead!
Honey, if you are reading this post somewhere, I'll explain when I get home!! mcmanamey
WOW - I can't even finish the thread. It's midnight of vacation day #1 - which really turned into driving day #2... (long story, coming thread) and the girls are playing right here infront of us. I'm loading this thread up, so i can read it in the car on the way into the UP tomorrow, even if I can't be connected. LOVING the stuff - especially shiva's first 2. Haig - this echo-y lobby is ringing w/ laughs due to Miss Cutie. Here's a fast cheat from me - this is Saturday's wedding. I love couples that are young & fun & not trashy.

mcmanamey
and bride dancing w/ her daddy (who couldn't NOT cry during his toast to the couple) *sniff**sniff* I'm such a pathetic wreck, I can't make it through the daddy/daughter dance anymore, cause I can (kinda) see matt dancing w/ our girls...even though that'd better be 25-30 yrs away! ;-D

hagar
Garry.. I have a word of advice: Better do your explaining away from the home environment.. like a cafe or something (cast iron skillets and rolling pins are less accessible!) LOL.
Maria: Now that's a cool group for a wedding.. and I can see why you were getting mushy! It's a nice capture. Glad my little ms cutie brightened your day :-) She's quite priceless! personalphotos
Justin It seems Godfrey is still posting but he hasn't been here much of late. Hin, The bird shots look good and sharp but need a better looking bird! The second one is very good. Todd good stuff, the yellow and black shots are cool and I like the second bird shot. Like Justin, I could never live there. The ocean gets in your blood having lived on the coast all my life. Alisa, Beautiful portrait. Just great. What surface is he on. The degree of reflection is about perfect. Nice lighting as well. The firefy shot is hard to spot the subject in. Maybe the site resize makes that difficult. Thanks for the comments on mine. As for using a TC to shoot macros, it's OK but still not the same as a dedicated lens. Fo one thing it doesn't get down to 1:1 and manual focus isn't easy. Plus you will spend about the same amount if you can find a Pentax AF1.7 TC. Get a Sigma 105 or Tamron 90. Tom, Where was the wagon wheel shot taken? Rome? I like it. Nicely framed. I really like the B&W shot. Very cool. Haig, She'd a sweetheart and a nice moment captured there. Looks like a fun crowd at the wedding Maria. Very nice moment capture with the second shot. alisa_stieg
Hey! And where are Nick and Chris? Everyone must be on vacation! Haig, I was thinking maybe multiple frames/second instead of bulb mode...what do you think? Garry, I think you should stop while you're ahead! At our school we have ONE guy...the PE coach! A pic taken at our school would look very much the same (although we are much older than your subjects!) Maria, great job on your wedding pics...we just talk soon! Peter, I used white shower board for the reflection. Really cute for kids. The fireflies did NOT give me the affect I was hoping for unless they were really close up, and only one (middle and to the left) cooperated. The rest are pretty far away, saving for the car lights middle and right. There are a couple others here and there (HARD to see unless you are magnifying in PS). Maybe I'll give Haig's suggestion a try! That sounds like FUN! And I was wondering the same thing about Tom's photos...hope he will give us the scoop! hagar
I guess you can try multi-exposure.. again out of my experience level. I mean if you are going to hang out outside, you can space the shots 10 -20 min apart.. as long as the beast is on a tripod, and the scene is static other than your lightning flashes.. You could grap a shot while the sky has some light in it, and then wait for darkness and lightning. Might get some cool photos.. then again you might just get wet! lol. I took some shots with the m-exp. a couple of weeks ago.. but I was indoors and using the flash on 1 out of the 3 shots.. first time trying it.. some success but need to play with it some more. Not totally ecstatic with either the lighting or the focus..

a few images
Alisa, everyone.. The first image is the entrance to Le Baron De Maserof - A working 400 year old winery and museum in Sierra Bernia mountains in the Costa Blanca region of Spain. The second image is a metal-crafted dinosaur art piece at the entrance of the caves in Benidoleig, Spain. The third shot was taken inside the courtyard at the Le Baron De Maserof winery of some few hundred year old wagon wheels with a slightly newer wagon behind it. Sorry I did not elaborate earlier. miserere_mei
Hey Justin, I'm here, just been really busy the last 10 days or so; don't think I'll post this week :-( I promise to try to make it up next week! I've only been able to quickly scroll through the pics in the thread, so I will simply give everyone a group pat-on-the-back for a job well done. Very nice photos, proving yet another week that we *can* get better. When will it stop? :-) See you next week!
mountainvisions
White shower board?? Ha, and it looked so professional... Actually, it looks great, I was wondering how you did that.
