rsabina
I will be spending 4 days in the San Jose , CR area in July. I am really interested in photographing small towns and their people and getting to see the not so well known touristy areas. Any suggestions ....any and all will be greatly appreciated. I will be driving myself . Thanks
bruce_margolis
Raquel, I was there a few months ago. Great area for photography, everything from towns/people to scenics to wildlife to good macro opportunities. Really, the only limit will be the gear you want to take. Also, keep in mind that it may be rainy in July. I would pack an umbrella as well as some kind of plastic covering for your camera/lens.
daverave
The Orosi Valley, a coffee growing region, is relatively close to San Jose and might satisfy your criteria for small towns and less touristy. There are several hotels in the town of Orosi.
manuel_franz
I second the Orosi Valley - it is easily accessible from San Jose, has varied flora and fauna, and several interesting historic sites as well.
images_in_light_north_west
Do the coffee farms, they pretty much surround the city in the mountains, you may want to go up to Vulcan Paos or Irazu, also close to San Jose.
