Yes, the image "views" counter is broken....UPDATE

Baby is asleep, I have yesterday's NASCAR race on the Tivo to watch, and my wife

is in a good mood. So I'm taking this chance to catch up on some of the issues

that have piled up over the past few days. PLEASE do not assume that I am

"working" in the same way that I normally do. I am not back at work quite yet.

 

Yes, the photo.net image "views" counter isn't working. The programmers are

aware of the issue and are working on it. I'm not sure what is taking so long,

but given how good the programmers are, I'm going to guess that it is one of two

things:

 

1. It is a larger problem than it appears and is simply taking a longer time to

fix. We changed a lot of things during the move to the new servers. The upside

is that the site performance is much MUCH better. The downside is that there are

a number of things that need to be updated and fixed.

 

2. There may just be more important issues on the table right now. The view

counter is very important to a lot of users. But if there is a problem that is

more crucial to the site operation, then the programmers are going to be using

their time to fix it before attending to an issue that isn't affecting the site

as much.

 

I promise you that this will be fixed. I do not know if the "missing" views will

be added to images when it is repaired. But we have been able to do that in the

past, so I would say there is at least a decent chance of it. No promises though.

Thanks for the note and update... been there done that with babies and even remember learning how to do a good number of chores with one of them perched on hip like an extra appendage as that was the only place she'd be happy during a particular time of the day... enjoy your baby moments as they pass all too quickly!

 

I am patient, have enjoyed/learned from photo.net a number of years now and missed it during these last months when I had to cut back on activities. Hope it will be up and running again soon! It is encouraging that they might actually be able to recapture the missed numbers too. That is more than I thought might happen.

Come on Biliana, give the guys a second chance. Remember that this is not exactly the most commercial site you'll find. I too hope that the counter problem will be fixed a.s.a.p but I have no reason not to believe Josh. it's still the best photo site there is!
