seragram
Hi I am looking to buy a 40D and would be shooting some little leage basball with it. I like to know if users of this camera here are happy with their purchase. And if they would recomend it.
vinny_carchietta
I love it for shooting HS Sports, both indoor and out. Great ISO, you'll love the shots per second. For LLB, you can get away with a Rebel, but for a few extra bucks, you are getting plenty more. You will see that with the 40D you can change all your setting on the fly. ISO, Focal point, anything. With the Rebel, that was always time consuming. Someone also recommended to get the grip and I never take it off. It also allows you to shoot vertically. Worth the extra $100. imagesbyferdinand
While some of the games played in high school can be fast action, the 40D has worked for me as well shooting high school football at Aloha Stadium at night, softball games and water polo games. For you and little league games, it should be sufficient. Just find your location and shoot away.

mark u
You may want to think about lenses: a kit lens won't cut it. A 70-200 f/2.8 might be a good starting point for the action, and help with shooting through chain link fences (get as close as you can to the fence and the links will be so out of focus they won't even cast a shadow if you are shooting wide open). seragram
thanks guy it looks like you are happy with results from 40D. I need to get a digital slr soon for this kind of photography film is just too much money to shoot sports. I been useing my G9 for Tball but I think a 40D is in my future.

eric merrill
I bought a 40D because I wanted to take advantage of its crop factor. I actually prefer using the 40D over the 5D for sports. The 40D makes the subjects so happy, they float. :)
