"hidden" folders

hello, again, folks!

i am wondering why photos from folders which i've 'hidden' keep surfacing in

my 'others' samples on the sidebar. i've hidden them from view for a reason

and don't wish for them to be seen until i decide to post them or open the

folders again to the public. most of them involve family and friends, or more

personal images. after that fiasco w/that chinese website 'stealing' so many of

pn'ers images, i am very hesitant to let my family be seen again. is there a way-

-other than deleting all of them--that hidden stays hidden? appreciate your time

and concern, lori

Lori,

Are you talking about the sidebar in the "my workspace" area or the one that appears on individual photos?

The one that appears in your "my workspace" is not viewable to anyone but you. Unless you are giving out your username and password to other people, nobody looks at the "my workspace" page but you yourself.

If they are appearing on the "more images from this user" sidebar that shows up on the individual image pages, then I am more concerned. As there is an interlock that keeps hidden folder images from showing up there. And to be honest, I'm not seeing any evidence that that system is broken.

Also,

Everyone needs to keep in mind that the hidden folders on photo.net are more of a "soft" hidden than a real protected folder. If you have images you do not want anyone to see, you should not have them on the site.

At some point in the future, we will have actual "private" folders. But again, if you are that worried about an image being seen by others, you probably shouldn't have it on the internet at all.

Josh--

For me, it's a case of only seeing my hidden photos on my own My Workspace page,

as you surmise, and I'll bet that's what Lori means. They don't show up for public

consumption unless someone clicks on the folder itself on my Community Member

page.

We didn't need dialogue. We had faces!
