bruce levy
Hi Josh, The last few days, and since the format change, I'm having problems with very slow page loading, or they don't load at all.
bruce levy
It's working a bit better now.
danbliss
I have to agree with Jeroen about the resizing. I used the old version on everything from a 23 inch screen to a 3inch screen, and it seemed to work great. I just size it to what was available. I don't mean to be a pain, but I am a little confused how a fixed size could be better for anyone. In any case, thank you for working on the website. We all appreciate it. kristina_kraft
I like the idea of showing more photos at once. But still I am not used to this new design. The previous version was much better to me. Today when I opened the site, it fell apart vertically.
short1
Very clean, easy to navigate, and more modern appearing ( and appealing), Bravo! By the way, no problems being encountered on either XP- IE B-7 or Vista IE 8. Can't figure out the variation in experience with the new site. If the folks with problems ( and this may have been suggested - I didn't read all the comments) default set both the monitor and browser ( which may have "gremlin" add- ons), they may get a better result. They may also want to do a CHKDISK in DOS to make certain their hard drives aren't corrupted. Anyway...nice job. C. Unger
chris_strobel1
This use to be my favorite site.Been coming here daily for over two years to browse photos. But now between having to scroll to see all the photos and the very slow loading times, I'm pretty disappointed :(. joshroot
Slow loading times I can understand, they frustrate all of us. It's not like I'm sitting next to the server. But scrolling is a fact of life on the internet. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and in a perfect world, we could solve all issues at the same time. However, we've made a design choice for the site and we are sticking with it. No, not everyone is going to be happy, but not everyone was happy with the previous version either. There are very real reasons for defining a fixed width for a website. And the fact that scrolling is required for one area of the site is not enough reason to break formatting. onlocation
Page loading times have become really slow - no problems before. Unable to navigate due to the frustration of waiting so long. IE often indicates 'page error' so not sure which end the problem is at for me.
joshroot
The graphic redo has nothing to do with the speed. We just painted the car, we didn't change the engine. The site is slow because the server is a mess and the backend guys are prepping for the move to the new servers.
onlocation
Thanks Josh.nice paint job then.......(not sure I would paint a car with a poor engine though) but I do look forward to going for a lot faster drive in the near future when the 'important' work is done
stupski
My God, I just went to look at the top photos of the year and there was this hideous purple ad on the left! I thought one of the perks of being a member was that the site would be ad free with paid membership. It is so distracting, I couldn't even stay on the pages because it follows you from page to page. stupski
Where do we find the "recent uploads" that used to be on the left?
tmjacobs
I'm somewhat surprised that nobody commented on this issue before (or did so elsewhere on photo.net), but larger photos are left aligned (relative to the middle frame) instead of center aligned. That gives an unattractive page layout when watching larger photos, they 'break out' of the frame to the right, so to speak. Surely this should be easy to fix. Apart from this I like the design. dirtlawyer
I like it, BUT, the thumbnails for the daily forum view are simply too small to let me decide which ones I'd like a better look at. Maybe my eyes are going, or maybe they're too small for everyone.
