jessie_powell
Hi - I really want to use Fluorescent strip Lighting (like the Kino Flo) but I just can't afford it now. Is there any way i can just buy the long bulbs and the contacts, wire them together and case them in a BARNDOOR style wrap-around - using some plastic composite and a few bits of velcro. I think i actually saw this in a couple of big studios. All and any DIY suggestions welcome - please no alternative suggestions to lighting source. Also, I am guessing i'd need some transistor or something toregulate the 220V coming in from the plug into the bulbs. Regards

randmcnatt
We mounted several 4-foot ceiling troffers to heavy-duty roller stands with conduit clamps, added electrical cords, and use 92+ cri daylight bulbs. Then I built a few units from (don't laugh) angel-food cake pans, stuffed with seven electrical sockets and high-cri compact fluorescents (seven because three switches can be wired to turn on 0,1,2,3,4,5,6 or7 lamps at a time). It actually works pretty good.<div></div>
Tim_Lookingbill
Rand, What brand of compact fluorescents are those and what cri rating do they have? I've never come across CF's that were even close to neutral looking. Looks like they did a good job going by your posted image. Nice shot BTW.
