blakley
Interesting video (including short snippets of factory tour interview with Andreas Kaufmann) <a href=" (I found this via a link on LUF).
The segment, apparently shot recently, includes production figures for M8 and film Ms (M7 and MP). The company is reportedly producing 1,000 M8s per month and 500 film Ms per month. If the M8s all sell within the fiscal year, the corresponding gross revenues under a (false) assumption of even-up exchange rates in all markets would be about 60 million Euro annually from M8 bodies alone, not counting lenses, film bodies, accessories, binoculars, and Leica-badged Panasonic digital gear. So the business outlook appears not too bleak at present.
Canon fans on the list will be entertained and outraged by the claims by the photographer who is interviewed at the beginning of the segment.
Enjoy. len_smith
An interesting video, indeed! I think Canon photographers will be amused by the extremely low production figures for the Leica M8. One thousand units per month, or twelve thousand per year. In 2007, Canon produced 3.18 million Digital SLRs. Nikon produced 2.98 million.
raymond_tai
Neither Canon nor Nikon can top MacDonalds for millions served.
