cdiabu: is it any good, or a money making scheme?

I am trying to find information on cdiabu, but it seems that there is absolutely no information about the

school that I can find that doesn't come directly from them or their employees. The only things I've

found is their advertisements, their web site, posts on this site from a recruiter of theirs and a blog

about going to the ma campus. I'm almost positive the blog is also a paid advertisement. Has anyone

here graduated from there that can share some thoughts? Or heard about it?

Thanks for any input,

Dan

Dan,

I'm guessing I would be the "recruiter". I am actually the Director of Outreach for the

school and love it. I also happen to be a professional photographer and studio owner and

have a passion to help burgeoning photographers pursue their passion.

CDIA is legit and is a young program that started in 2003 which may be why there is little

independent information available on line. I would like to offer to give you a tour of our

centers at 274 Moody St. in Waltham, MA or our new center at 1053 Thomas Jefferson

Ave., NW in Washington, DC so you can see the quality equipment, meet the staff & faculty

(many of whom are from organizations like National Geo., etc...) and get a feel for the

enthusiasm of our students.

As for the blog, that was independently done by Keith Emmerich, a photographer I met at

the National SkillsUSA photography contest in Kansas City, MO back in 2006. He received

a scholarship to attend CDIA and will be graduating in May. He is an incredible

photographer and eventually became a friend. He can tell you himself if he was paid for

the blog or just decided to start it on his own. He would be a great person to speak with

because he visited most of the top photography schools in the country before making the

decision to attend CDIA.

As for a "money making scheme", CDIA's tuition this year is $22,500 which is considerably

less than other schools you may be more familiar with like Brooks, RIT, Hallmark Inst., Art

Institutes, etc...

Hope this helps. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

I so wish I was paid for that blog!!!! I actually asked the school for a link from their

webpage to my blog and the declined to do so. I recieve so many emails a day about the

school and did I like it or hate it??? I did the blog so my friends and family could keep up

with me and my adventures.

I went to CDIABU and I felt it was a great move for me. I did get to meet Bill who seriously

is a great person, family man, and photographer. When ever i was having an issue with

school or needed to talk Bill made himself available and helped in many ways and I will

always appreciate.

If you click on the photos in the blog you will see they go to flickr...most of the photos

from my flick page are from Detroit...my hometown..and some school work from Boston.

If you also check my profile you will see I also have started another blog which will be post

CDIA and more into the whats next for me...and also thanks for reading the blog.

Hi Dan,

I am a relatively new part-time student at CDIA and I am very happy with my experience there so far (so its not a money making scheme). Obviously its not perfect -- nothing is -- but I get the impression that the school is very responsive to student opinions about improvements -- more so than most schools would be I think. I wrote you a message via photo.net, but please feel free to drop me a line if you have questions (same to anyone else interested in learning more about my experience at the school).
