grapegeek
I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but you really should publish a book with some of these and your artful prose! Great stuff...
ralf_j.
Gene, these are remarkable. What timeline would you place these in? I am a 70s child so I am certain these predate me by at least a decade.<p> Steve said it right, publish the darn book. I am in a for few copies, one for me, and the rest for gifts ;-). craig_supplee
Time line is definitely early to mid 50's. In the pic of the babe on the hood there is a christmas tree air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror. Those things been around since the dawn of time or what! I can't figure out if these are just apartments, or if it is an off base housing complex of some sort.

summitar
Great stuff, as always, Gene. I hope someone can date these photos.
chuck_foreman1
Gene, Great !! Too bad about the one where apparently 2 girls or both are sitting on the hood! THe splotch is right in the middle! The other hood photo is soo sharp!! I'd be interested too, in where.. a military housing complex is a good guess. Yes, youth is fleeting! rogerwb
RE: Dating. The car in the background of frame 4 is a '57 Plymouth. The young man's car in frame 5 looks about '47-'49 vintage which would be an appropriate car for someone of his age. Cars didn't hang together as long then, so I would put the pic at NLT 1959. skygzr
The woman in the first picture is a babe. Grrrrr. I bet she'd get in serious trouble if Mom and Dad knew she was posing with her skirt so shamefully above the knee. Mr Brylcreem ducktail probably took the pictures, and I'd bet a dollar he was up to no good.

charles_stobbs3
Once I stopped admiring the photos and comments I decided the car in the background of frame 4 could be a '57 or so DeSoto and the wraparound windshield in frame 5 would be from the same era and from the color could be the same car. Great thread.
george_shihanian
The clothes and hairdos are exactly like worn in the very beginning of Elvis's popularity. (I vividly recall those concert and newsreel clips) I'd put the date as '56-'59 tops.
joe_dahlgren
These are wonderful photos Gene. I always look forward to your work. Having been around in the 50s, I think I know some of the cars......The car in frame 4 that beautiful gal is sitting on is a '54 Merc. In the background a '57 Plymouth Plaza. Frame 5 is a '55 Plymouth Plaza. My guess photos takenlate '50s. ?
johnw436
I'm thinkin' if I was that girl's Dad and Mr. Smirk-wearin' Ducktail came rolling up I'd have to lay the smack down on his candy ass.
