holga 120 flim developing issues

I am a complete beginner with Holgas and I just had my first few rolls of film

developed. Two of the four rolls, however, came back without any

pictures/negatives whatsoever, with just the exposed roll of film no longer on

the spool. Does anyone know what I could have done wrong that would completely

mess up the roll? I don't think it was exposed to light, but it's possible.

Thanks for your help!

LOL! Welcome to Holga! I'm sure you already know they are NOTORIOUSLY unreliable. If I may ask, do you know which rolls

didn't have any images on them (like 1 and 2 were good, 3 and 4 nothing)?

The only thing I can think of right off is to ask if you're using slow (ISO 50 or slower) film? I ran some 50 through mine just for S

& G's and all but about 2 were almost completely black.

In any case, before you load it up again, hold the camera up to a window with the back off, and see if you can see light when you

click the shutter; if you have one of the newer ones, set it to "B" and check. It's possible it already broke!

More importantly, how did the photos that came out look?

speaking of holgas, the funniest thread i have ever saw on here, some guy asked how he could get holga style pictures with his hasselblad, some of the responses had me rolling. one guy responded: "I was wondering how I could make the images taken with my 11x14 ebony look like they had been taken with a cell phone" lol

That is pretty funny. I'm thinking "he probably spent a ber-jillion dollars on the 'blad, $20 is an issue?

Aww, I love my Holga though. I was actually more disappointed that it didn't leak all that much than I was with

the clarity though. The clips lasted about 2 film changes, so now the back is taped on....I get my light leaks now!
