Nikon SB800 speedlight tutorial?

Recommended Posts

Hi... I just purchased an SB800 for my Nikon D80. This is my first experience

with learning to use a speedlight, and the manual for this light is just awful

unless you already know what you're doing with flash. Does anyone know of any

books or links explaining how to use it in plain English?

Thanks

You can also check out ol' Ken. That page is a little dated (in that it doesn't mention the D80... but just follow along with the D200 stuff, they're pretty much identical), but it addresses the iTTL/CLS issue - being able to use your D80 to command the SB-800 remotely.

I promise, once you've done it a couple of times, it becomes totally old hat.

Kim,

I've always found Dave Black's website very helpful for tips on using the SB800 and CLS.

Dave's section "workshop at the ranch" has some great articles on CLS use.

Have a look here for tips on location lighting:

...and the rest of the workshop articles, from here:

All the best Kim.

And thanks Dave Black.

 • 2 weeks later...

"Using the Nikon Creative Lighting System" By Mike Hagen, www,outtherimages.com takes

you from the box to wireless remote. It is available as an E book.

I just took his workshop-fabulous (www.nikonians.org) I had my SB 800 for months and

just let it sit in the box- now I am happily trying new lighting situations.
