kathy_reid2
I have to settle an estate and need help in determing the value of these items. Any assistance would be appreciated. Ikeda wood 4x5 rosewood view camera in excellent condition. Calumet silver metal rail 4x5 view camera in very good condition with a mounted Ilex Calumet Caltar lens 165mm 61/2 inches f6.3 in very good condition. Also a 545 polaroid back in very good condition and a 215mm F4.8 Acuton 8 1/2 inches mounted M/X/F Ilex sync#3 synchro shutter in original box in excellent condition. The local camera store looked them over and said the condition was like new but has no experience in value of large format. Thank you in advance. ellis_vener_photography
Jeff Wheeler at Quality Camera Company, http://www.qualitycamera.com, is a large format specialist and should be able to help you out. My experience with him is that he is very honest, straight up guy. Sorry for your loss.
jon_shiu
Hi, you can get an idea of valuation from ebay by doing a search on completed listings. I think a rough estimate would be $400-500 for the lot. Jon

cole_paquette
could just start the auction really low, and let the bidders decide the final price. might lose money or make very little, but for easy...
chuck_pere
A couple other places to check with are Midwest Photo and KEH. I don't see anything really expensive in your group. The Ikeda would have the most value. But the total would be under $1000. For a quick sale just get an estimate from the store buyers and sell to the highest one. If you want to work for a couple hundred more dollars sell the pieces individually on Ebay.
frank r
My ballpark figures: Ikeda: $300-450 Calumet: $100-250 Ilex Calumet Caltar lens 165mm: $75-200 545 polaroid: $25-45 215mm F4.8 Acuton: $75-200 To make the most money: Take nice pictures, describe them well, and sell them seperatly on Ebay. ragc
I agree the Ikeda is the most valuable. I also agree top buyers may drop up to $1000.00 for it. Comparables cannot be bought, new, for less than $600.00 today.
jon_shiu
Suffice it to say these are not valuable items so for probate/tax purposes putting down the low range of fair market value would be fine. Jon
newton_shrader1
The Ikeda is a real gem of a camera if you someone is trying to find a super light 4x5 camera. The lenss are not as good as modern designs but if working will still give very good results. I have been looking for an Ikeda or Nagaoka myself,so I will keep an eye out on e-bay for your equipment.
