.swf files

Don't really know where to put this and want this to stay among a community I know.

I hired a developer to do a website for me and he gave me a semi complete flash

site in .swf

He then fooled me into giving him an additional 650 for hosting and never bought it.

He now says the site is completed.

So I asked him to give me the .fla files.

I am right in thinking that if I got someone to do a flash website for me I

should have .fla files with action scripts?

I know nothing about flash but a .swf file is not editable and is a compressed

flash file that is the output that is hosted.

I feel so cheated. I have spent thousands on the internet and have never had any

trouble in dealing with anyone on the internet, always found them trusting and

thought I knew what I was doing. I have now spend 1500 for a website and 650 for

a server and got 1 .swf file that does not even have the text on the pages

filled in correctly. Like my phone number is 0000000000.

The website just seems to be turing a blind eye. I mean legally I must have

something behind me. I have all the emails he sent me and how he tricked me into

giving him money for nothing.

What do I do?

Where do I turn?

I have been conned...they has to be someone out there stopping this type of thing?

A .swf file that is not complete is usless, isn't?

He says upload it it will work, yea it will but I can't change the content, correct?

I'm getting very upset at this stage and feeling so stupid. I'll never trust

anyone again regardless of the list of projects they have behind them.

Thanks in advance to any replies, anything will be a help...

Ok I settled down.

If you got the .fla file that one is editable. Flash movie Authoring file. .swf is the rendered file and its not editable.

I hope you can get this settled..

It might be worth the money to buy Adobe and take a class at your local college, then you need anyone to do it for you and if you want to make changes no waiting. You can get the whole Adobe suite for how you spent.
