richard_beisigl
Will this new Nikon camera allow the use of all Nikon lenses, or just the newer lenses. I have a Nikon N80 film camera with two lenses, and would like to be able to use them with this new camera. Thank you f or your help. Richard B. Andrew in Austin
The D60 will only auto focus with AF-S lenses. There is no in-camera focus motor or screw drive on the flange. Best Regards - Andrew in Austin, TX
justinblake
The good news is that I have heard it will take Non-AI lenses like the D40/D40x, that doesn't help with your D80 lenses but it allows the use of really old glass.
Two23
You would be ahead to just sit tight a little longer for the D80 replacement. Kent in SD
ShunCheung
Any lens that can meter with the N80, i.e., the lens has a built-in CPU, can also meter with the D60. However, as pointed out above, the lens must also have a built-in AF motor in order to AF with the D60 (i.e. it has to be AF-S/AF-I or the equivalent), as the N80 has an AF motor inside the camera but the D60 doesn't. The D60 is very very similar to the D40x it replaces and shares all of the D40/D40x's limitations.
josh_standon
What colors will it come in? Can I get it with a different coating on the eyepiece? I would like to jail break the D60 so I can use it with Canon lenses. Any tips? Can I hack the software and use it to keep my contact list from You-tube? josh_standon
One more thing, can I replace the batter myself or must I send it back to Nikon when the battery will no longer hold a charge? Also, can it download photos via wifi or must I carry old fashioned cables with me when I shoot?

tri-x1
I'm betting the D60 will NOT meter with manual focus/non-cpu lenses. You might be able to shoot with them but you'll have to guess at exposure or use a hand-held meter. If Nikon lets the cheaper cameras function fully with old lenses people like me aren't going to shell out for a D200 or D300. And the less you pay, the less features. Right now the older AF lenses will work with the D80 but not with the D40. You'll see the same with the next round of designs.
frankie_frank1
D60 will be sold less than D80. Obviously, D60 will have less features and less noise.
