The new Nikon D60 digital camera

Any lens that can meter with the N80, i.e., the lens has a built-in CPU, can also meter with the D60. However, as pointed out above, the lens must also have a built-in AF motor in order to AF with the D60 (i.e. it has to be AF-S/AF-I or the equivalent), as the N80 has an AF motor inside the camera but the D60 doesn't.

The D60 is very very similar to the D40x it replaces and shares all of the D40/D40x's limitations.

I'm betting the D60 will NOT meter with manual focus/non-cpu lenses. You might be able to shoot with them but you'll have to guess at exposure or use a hand-held meter. If Nikon lets the cheaper cameras function fully with old lenses people like me aren't going to shell out for a D200 or D300. And the less you pay, the less features. Right now the older AF lenses will work with the D80 but not with the D40. You'll see the same with the next round of designs.
