emre
Use it at school or find an old version and get an academic upgrade.
joshroot
Photo.net is not the place to discuss illegally obtaining software. So if that is what you are looking for, you are going to have to go somewhere else or the thread will be removed. That having been said, student prices on Adobe products are fairly good, and as Shun said, there is a 30 day trial.
Brad_
If you're Mac-based and ps isn't a requirement, consider <a href= "http://www.pixelmator.com/"">Pixelmator</a> - which is photoshop-like - $59 with a free review period... www.citysnaps.net
pacha mama photography
the cheapest i can find it is around $200 for the stripped version containing only ps cs3. eh. and no, ps isnt technically a requirement but all our work 'in class' will be done on ps so its going to be a pain in the butt working on on two separate programs. right now i use GIMP, which is a remarkable program even though it can be gotten for free. colin carron
Why not go for Photoshop Elements? I use PE 2.0 which you must be able to get on ebay for next to nothing these days and it does all that I want it to do.
jim_horton
Christopher, I'll throw in a vote for program I use called PhotoImpact, from Corel (formerly ULead). It's is very photoshop-like, and has more features than Elements. It's basically a poor man's Photoshop and I paid $80 US. for it a few years ago. --Jim
russell lewis arps
Chris, just remember you get what you pay for! If you want the best, you will have to find a way to get Photoshop - you can get legit copies of CS2 on eBay for pretty good prices. You also need to think about what you really want from it. Maybe 'Elements' would be a better bet for you - CS3 is one hell of a thing to jump straight in to! Scares the pants off of me and I've been working, professionally, with Adobe products since 1988! Just remember - 'more' is NOT always best.
KenPapai
Russell -- Adobe Illustrator or Quark Express, back in 1988, along with its Postscript ?
russell lewis arps
Ken - Illustrator, Quark, PageMaker and a few other gems including the god-awful Freehand on a Mac ll. Programmes used to come on floppy disks and Illustrator had two 'lives' for installation. If you wanted to save a 'life' when you moved it to another computer, or whatever, you had to uninstall to get that life back. 256 text characters to a block. Ah, what fun it all was! I once had the pleasure of putting together a 72-page four-colour brochure on a black and white monitor. I had to keep all the colour info in my head. Now that could explain a lot!... danielserrano
I second the idea about Pixelmator, a little PS that promises and gives... like Illustrator but can't afford it, the try vector designer.. these are for osX... and can get them in bundle with some 13 more apps at: https://www.macheist.com/buy/invite/97738
