hjoseph7
How much resolution do you loose when you post your photos on the critique Forum ? I find that I lose quite a bit, plus my photos seem to come out about 1 1/2 stops darker than the original. I'm not sure if I'm doing anything wrong. I use photoshop CS2 to resize the picture by using the 'Save for Web' function. Then I click on the 'Image Size' tab and plug in a width of about 750 sometimes a little more sometimes less. I not sure if it's phsiycological, but my pictures allways come out looking a little muddy, especially on LCD screens. When I look at the photos of other photographers they come out sharp as a tack, good enough to print an 8X10. Any suggestions ?
younes
that's a problem caused by PN's compression...you should see that you have a "larger" button under your image. Clicking on that should show you the picture as you uploaded it. If you don't want to deal with that, you are better off saving at about 640 px. As for the darkness, that's variable, some pix turn out ok, some don't, you just have to adjust accordingly by pushing your web version 1/2 to 1 stop if needed. lex_jenkins
The problem I've experienced with my own photos isn't loss of resolution but oversharpening. If I upload photos that appear properly sharpened on my own PC, they are grossly oversharpened on photo.net. So I need to remember to guesstimate sharpening adjustments. On some of my pix you can count every hair and goose pimple, but there are jaggies and halos galore.
