tjod
Hi all; Found a well-worn 35mm Zeiss Ikon Tenax today. In need of some TLC and probablya CLA too. It's a Zeiss Ikon Tenax with Carl Zeiss Jena 1/3.5, 37.5mm Tessar lens withCompur shutter. Model # on the back is "14 280" Photo here: http://timster.net/cameras/ZeissIkonTenax.jpg I;m still in the process of researching and testing this little camera, but I'dbe interested in any stories or info about it. Best regards, Tim O'Donoghue
bueh
I have several Tenax cameras -- two I's (Tessar and Novar) and two II's (Tessar and Sonnar). Great little picture-takers that use the 24x24mm format (who said you needed a Hasselblad for square images?). Camerapedia has some info and links on the Tenax I. Unfortunately, I don't have a film scanner so I can't show photos I took.
patrick j dempsey
I've always coveted 35mm square format! Looks like a ton of fun!
bueh
It is. You get more than 50 frames from one roll of film. What bugs me the most are the poor close-focusing distance on all Tenax models (1m/3.3ft if I recall correctly) and the lack of flash sync on the Tenax II. The cameras with the lesser Novar lenses are quite soft wide open and make an good and cheaper alternative to the coveted Holga cameras.
