image compression for the layman

Recommended Posts

I need advice on how to compress jpeg images using the EOS File Viewer utility

software for Windows. When I follow the instructions in the EOS Digital Rebel

software manual and go to File-Save menu and click on convert and save in file

the "convert from raw to other format" and "compression ratio" menu windows are

grayed out so I can't use them. I'm saving my files in jpeg format on my

external hard drive. I am able to specify the folder I want but after that I

run into the problem. I feel that I must be making some fundamental rookie

mistake, but I've spent huors trying to figure thid out and I've gotten

nowhere. Please HELP!

Joe,

I tried to reproduce what you're saying. Are you using the Digital Photo Professional from Canon? I had installed the canon cd and I don't see a 'File Viewer'. There's Zoom Browser and DPP, and an EOS utility, so I'm not sure which actual program you are in.
