joe_hansen Posted January 7, 2008 Share Posted January 7, 2008 I need advice on how to compress jpeg images using the EOS File Viewer utility software for Windows. When I follow the instructions in the EOS Digital Rebel software manual and go to File-Save menu and click on convert and save in file the "convert from raw to other format" and "compression ratio" menu windows are grayed out so I can't use them. I'm saving my files in jpeg format on my external hard drive. I am able to specify the folder I want but after that I run into the problem. I feel that I must be making some fundamental rookie mistake, but I've spent huors trying to figure thid out and I've gotten nowhere. Please HELP! markus maurer Posted January 7, 2008 Share Posted January 7, 2008 Hi Joe I don't know about the Canon software but you have to select 8-bit mode instead of 16-bit mode in most programs to be able to save in JPG. jim_horton Posted January 8, 2008 Share Posted January 8, 2008 Joe, I tried to reproduce what you're saying. Are you using the Digital Photo Professional from Canon? I had installed the canon cd and I don't see a 'File Viewer'.
