pacha mama photography
Can anyone recommend a good battery powered strobe or something else that wouldwork as an off camera flash for on location photography? also, though this maybe a fruitless desire, i would like to not COMPLETELY blow my next couplepaychecks on the system. also, what additional 'accessories' would i need? iam barely getting into model photography and i have not used anything other thanmy sb 600 for shoots. davidlong
Speedlights like your sb-600 are generally fine for location work, and if you're not worried about using Nikon's wireless flash system, you can manage with cheap non-dedicated flashes. A basic kit might have a couple of flashes, something to hold them (like a light stand or clamp), and some modifiers (gels, an umbrella, etc.). You also need some way to trigger the flashes (cords, radio triggers, optical slaves, possibly your on-camera pop-up flash or an on-camera controller). A good resource is www.strobist.com.
