rannbphoto
Hi Anne, You can check out an article I wrote recently on how to plan a successful wedding on my blog at http://rannbphoto.blogspot.com/2007/11/10-tips-to-make-your-wedding-day.html I'm not sure it would be for the photographer audience, but maybe your clients. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your stuff, by the way. Big fan!!!

fotografz
Great article. The notion of "part time trap" is valid if one feels it's a trap. I personally like doing select weddings when I want and for whom I want. But, to be fair, I love my "real job", don't worry about being fired because I'm confident in what I do and can work elsewhere, and my benefits are mostly paid by my company. But if you hate your job, don't feel confident or appreciated, I can understand it if someone else does feel trapped and would rather be their own boss. anner
Hi Marc! Long time no hear! I've received a lot of email lately from people who really want to be a full time photographer but feel stuck and afraid to make the leap. It's unfortunate that they don't feel as empowered and happy as you... that's the kind of feeling I wish for everyone.
fotografz
Me too Ruth. It doesn't matter if you are "workin' for the man", or for yourself, ya gotta be happy doing it because life's short. Your encouraging people to reach that goal has to be congratulated.
michael_notar1
well a new year is around the corner, double or triple your prices and see how many follow you. this way if you get hired you will make some great money, and you might be suprised on how much business you will not loose! i think the wedd photogs got really divided lately, either $500 for a shoot to burn CD or $5000 for the normal stuff. the people spending $1000-2500 are now saving a lot of $$, those who could afford this pay this or go for larger packages. and the only thing photographers did is choose if they wanted to go high or low overnight. anner
It certainly didn't happen overnight for me, but kudos to someone else if they can make it happen overnight.
justin_hall
Anne, this is an excellent thought provoker that addresses those hidden doubts and insecurities that many of us feel. It also serves to encourage many of us to make that leap of faith more comfortable in the knowledge that someone like yourself has successfully made the transition. Thanks for taking the time out to write the article. The best of luck to you and your business, I wish you every success. j
