david_m
On this camera, does anyone know the function of the 2 green buttons, they are not marked and I do not have a manual. Also, what is the purpose of the red light on top (not in front) of the camera? Thanks.

mike_stemberg
The lower button could have something to do with locking the auto-focus whilst depressed?!

(link)
david_m
Thanks, I had already found that site via Google. I was hoing to find someone who has the manual and can give me a definitive answer.
daniel_iggers
Usually on point and shoot cameras of that vintage and type, one of the green buttons will be for fill flash, and the other for no flash. Usually, though, the buttons will be embossed with a symbol for flash and one with a diagonal line over the flash symbol. A red light on top or at the back beside the viewfinder, often lights in low ambient light, to indicate that flash is needed.
glyn r
Following the link I deduce that the lower button is for AF lock. The writer says he had to bring a wire out to lock the focus at infinity. There is a wire in the photo.
Andy Collins
David, I wonder if those buttons aren't for flash-off and fill flash. Just a guess. I got a slightly older Infinity AF-1, and I must say it's one of the most impressive point and shoot cameras I've ever had. Its got a Zuiko 2.8 lens on it that's sharper than many current cameras, and the color is most impressive. What I don't like about it is that you can't cancel the flash. I wonder if these buttons weren't an answer to this particular problem, since this camera came soon after the AF-1. I'd be interested to know what you learn about this camera, and how well it performs.
david_m
Upon closer inspection (magnifying glass), the upper green button has what appears to be two mountains next to each other and the lower green button has what appears to be a flower on it. Maybe the mountain means distance (so no flash) and the flower close-up (so fill flash). I just don't know. But I do suspect both buttons have something to do with the flash and nothing to do with focus lock.
dean_williams
David, the buttons could be for some type of flash control, as you suspect, but the few point and shoot cameras I have use the mountain symbol for an infinity lock, and flower symbols, typically a stylized tulip, is for engaging the camera's macro setting.
