jairy hunter
Found myself a little out of position and not ready with 70-200 f2.8/monopod, so I slung my 5D/24-70mm up and one-handed this one, complete with flash on the other side of the field....sometimes you get lucky....this kid signed with Georgia as a junior.<div></div>

jairy hunter
Wilson, I can't remember...are you using flash with those football night shots? I don't usually like the look of flashed football pics but I could get that.....different story. Consequently some of the caves around here require ISOs 1600 and 3200 = serious grain.....<div></div>

wilsontsoi
Hi Jairy, I have shot night ball games with and without flash. The third (son of UW Huskies offensive coordinator Tim Lappano) and fourth above were shot available light, hand-held, ISO-3200 1/500 sec. 300mm at f2.8 custom white balance, very minimal cropping, in-camera normal high-ISO & Capture NR. It's a typical Friday night cave. I used flash in a few games in a similar lighting conditon. I can be at ISO-800, 1/200 f2.8 while setting flash at 1/8 power hoping to keep the direct flash effect to minimum and balance with ambient (at the expense of motion blur.) I think that I like the natural, non-flash look better, but YMMV. Marc, it's always interesting how it's called soccer here in the US and rest of the world call it football! Keep 'em coming. ^_^<div></div>
